Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • ½ onion diced
  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 15 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 6 bags Frito corn chips mini bags
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain the excess grease. Stir in the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, garlic salt, chili powder, cumin, pepper, and beef broth. Simmer the chili mixture uncovered for 3 to 5 minutes, until the flavors are combined and heated through. Open the top of the 6 mini bags of Frito corn chips (or cut them down the side). Spoon the chili mixture evenly into each bag of corn chips. Top each serving with shredded cheddar cheese. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Top with your favorite toppings: sour cream, red onions, jalapeños, queso, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, pico de gallo, salsa verde, green onions, or black olives. Try chili-cheese corn chips for a tasty substitute. To set up a walking taco bar, keep the warm chili in a slow cooker on the warm setting, line up the Frito bags, and arrange toppings in bowls so guests can build their own. Make the meat ahead in a crock pot with 1/4 cup water on high for 3 to 4 hours. Ground turkey can be substituted for the beef, or mix the two. Leftover chili works great here, too.
