Vanilla Cake

Soft and moist vanilla cake made with butter, milk, and real vanilla for classic flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 and 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk or buttermilk
  • ¼ cup sour cream or plain yogurt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare two 9-inch cake pans. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk. Fold in sour cream. Divide batter into pans. Bake 22–25 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for best texture. Avoid overmixing to keep crumb soft.
