Vanilla Bean Buttercream

Vanilla bean buttercream made with real vanilla bean and butter for a smooth, fluffy, bakery-style frosting.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 –4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 –4 tablespoons heavy cream or whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste or scraped vanilla bean
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Place softened butter in a mixing bowl and beat for 2–3 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  • Reduce speed and gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing until combined.
  • Add vanilla bean paste and salt and mix until incorporated.
  • Add heavy cream or milk one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  • Increase speed to medium-high and beat for 2–3 minutes until light and smooth.
  • Use immediately or store for later use.

Notes

Butter must be fully softened. Rewhip buttercream after refrigeration to restore texture.
