Valentine Sugar Cookies
Soft Valentine sugar cookies decorated with simple icing and sprinkles. Perfect for Valentine’s Day parties and gifting.

Ingredients

unsalted butter
softened
1
cup
granulated sugar
1
large egg
1 ½
teaspoons
vanilla extract

all-purpose flour

teaspoon
baking powder

teaspoon
salt
Icing:
2
cups
powdered sugar
2
–3 tablespoons milk
½
teaspoon
vanilla extract
Pink or red food coloring
Valentine sprinkles
optional
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix just until dough forms.
Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
Place cookies on baking sheet 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set but not browned.
Cool cookies completely before decorating.
Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make icing.
Color icing as desired and decorate cookies.
Let icing set before serving or packaging.
Notes
Do not overbake. Cookies should stay soft and pale.
Icing thickness can be adjusted by adding more milk or powdered sugar.
