Instructions
Prepare cake mix according to package directions and bake in a greased 9×13-inch pan.
Let cake cool for 10 minutes.
Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the entire cake.
In a bowl, dissolve strawberry gelatin in boiling water.
Stir in cold water until fully combined.
Slowly pour the gelatin mixture evenly over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully chilled and set.
Spread whipped topping evenly over the cake before serving.
Garnish with fresh strawberries if desired.
Notes
Pour gelatin slowly for even absorption.
Chill thoroughly for best texture and clean slices.
Cake tastes even better the next day.
