Servings 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 14 ounces smoked sausage kielbasa or similar, sliced
  • 1 small head green cabbage chopped (about 6–7 cups)
  • 1 ½ pounds potatoes russet or Yukon Gold, chopped
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  • Lightly grease the slow cooker insert.
  • Add chopped potatoes to the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Top with sliced onion and minced garlic.
  • Add chopped cabbage and sliced smoked sausage.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the ingredients.
  • Sprinkle salt, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes evenly over the top.
  • Pour chicken broth around the edges of the slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until potatoes are tender.
  • Stir gently once if possible and adjust seasoning before serving.

Notes

Cut cabbage into large chunks to prevent overcooking. Yukon Gold potatoes hold their shape better than russets.
