Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies

Equipment

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • ½ cup powdered sugar for rolling

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • ½ cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions
 

  • Mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix in food coloring. Add dry ingredients and mix gently until combined. Chill dough for at least 30 minutes. Roll dough into balls and coat generously with powdered sugar. Bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes until cracked and set on edges. Cool before serving.

Notes

Do not skip chilling. Roll dough heavily in powdered sugar.
