Potato Cheese Sticks

Potato cheese sticks with crispy coating and melted cheese center. Easy snack or appetizer recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 8 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Take a portion of potato mixture and flatten it.
  • Place a cheese stick in the center and wrap potato mixture around it to form a stick.
  • Prepare three bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  • Dip each stick into flour, then eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for extra crispiness.
  • Heat oil to 350°F and fry sticks for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Cool slightly and serve.

Notes

Chill sticks before frying to prevent cheese leakage.
Seal edges well to keep filling inside.
Serve immediately for best texture.
