Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

Classic ooey gooey butter cake made with cream cheese and a buttery cake base.

Ingredients
  

  • Cake Base
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Gooey Layer
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix cake mix, melted butter, and egg until combined.
  • Press mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add eggs and mix well.
  • Stir in melted butter and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour the gooey mixture evenly over the cake base.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
  • Cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

The center should jiggle slightly when removed from the oven.
Do not overbake or the cake will lose its signature gooey texture.
