Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef 80/20
  • ¾ cup dry bread crumbs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk and let soak briefly.
  • Add onion, egg, salt, pepper, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Mix until combined.
  • Add ground beef and mix gently until just incorporated.
  • Transfer mixture to a baking sheet or loaf pan and shape into a loaf if needed.
  • Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top.
  • Bake for about 60 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender. Resting before slicing improves texture.
