Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 85/15
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 tablespoons green onions sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart until fully browned. Drain excess grease if needed. Reduce heat to medium and add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir well. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened and glossy. Remove from heat. Divide cooked rice into bowls and spoon the beef mixture over the rice. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve warm.

Notes

Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels. Simmer sauce briefly to thicken before serving. Store leftover beef mixture in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat gently before serving.
