Homemade Shawarma Spice Blend

Authentic shawarma spice blend made with cumin, coriander, paprika, and warm spices. Perfect seasoning for chicken, beef, or veggies.
Prep Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Add all spices to a small bowl. Stir or whisk until evenly combined. Taste a small pinch and adjust cayenne or salt if needed. Transfer the spice blend to an airtight spice jar. Shake well before each use. Use about 1–2 tablespoons of seasoning per pound of meat or vegetables when making shawarma.

Notes

Use fresh spices for the best aroma and flavor. Store the spice blend in an airtight container in a cool, dry pantry for up to 6 months. Shake before using to redistribute spices evenly.
