Greek Honey Cake Recipe

Traditional Greek honey cake soaked in citrus honey syrup.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup honey
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Honey Syrup
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 strip orange peel
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions
 

  • Mix dry ingredients. Whisk wet ingredients. Combine gently. Bake at 350°F for 35–40 minutes. Simmer syrup. Pour syrup over hot cake and let absorb.

Notes

Pour syrup while cake is hot for best absorption.
