Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F and grease or line a baking pan.
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
Add molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and mix until smooth.
Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.
Bake for 20–25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool completely before frosting.
Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
Add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until creamy.
Spread frosting over cooled bars and slice to serve.
Notes
Do not overbake to keep bars soft.
Cool completely before frosting.
Store in refrigerator for freshness.
