Gingerbread Bars

Gingerbread Bars Recipe with soft spiced base and cream cheese frosting for a cozy dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease or line a baking pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and mix until smooth.
  • Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before frosting.
  • Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  • Add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until creamy.
  • Spread frosting over cooled bars and slice to serve.

Notes

Do not overbake to keep bars soft.
Cool completely before frosting.
Store in refrigerator for freshness.
