Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough or thick white bread
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese softened
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt until combined.
  • In another bowl, mix mozzarella, cheddar, and cream cheese until evenly combined.
  • Lay bread slices flat and spread garlic butter on one side of each slice.
  • Flip two slices over and spread cheese mixture evenly on the unbuttered sides.
  • Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing up.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cheese is melted.
  • Remove from skillet and rest for 1 minute before slicing and serving.

Notes

Cook over medium-low heat for even browning. Let the sandwich rest briefly before slicing to keep the cheese inside.
