Ingredients

  • 4 cups green cabbage chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a casserole dish.
  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add onion and cook until softened.
  • Add garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Stir in chopped cabbage and cook until slightly softened.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  • Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream and cream cheese until smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Transfer mixture to the prepared casserole dish and spread evenly.
  • Top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.
  • Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use green cabbage for best texture. Let the casserole rest briefly so the sauce thickens.
