Best Ever Tuna Noodle Casserole Recipe

Creamy homemade tuna noodle casserole made without canned soup.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 cans tuna drained (5 oz each)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup diced yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers

Instructions
 

  • Cook noodles. Make roux with butter, onion, garlic, flour, and milk. Stir in sour cream and cheese. Add tuna, peas, and noodles. Transfer to dish, top with crumbs, and bake at 375°F until bubbly.

Notes

Do not overcook noodles before baking.
