Beef and Cheese Chimichangas Recipe

Beef and cheese chimichangas recipe made with seasoned beef, melted cheese, and crispy tortillas. A delicious and easy comfort meal.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 packet 1 oz taco seasoning
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups oil for frying
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook ground beef until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  • Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Add diced onion and cook until softened.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  • Add taco seasoning, tomato sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  • Simmer for a few minutes until the mixture thickens, then remove from heat.
  • Place a portion of beef mixture onto each tortilla.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Fold sides inward and roll tightly into a burrito shape.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  • Fry chimichangas seam-side down until golden brown on all sides.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Bake at 400°F for 20–25 minutes for a lighter version.
Add beans or rice for extra filling.
Use chicken instead of beef for variation.
Reheat in oven to maintain crispiness.
