The Micro-Routine Cleaning Schedule

Goal: Tiny actions → big payoff.
Do them whenever you naturally pass through a space.

Routine Cleaning Schedule

Morning (Total: 5–7 minutes)

Make the bed (1 minute)

Pull the comforter up, fluff pillows. Instant room reset.

Bathroom quick swipe (1 minute)

After brushing teeth, use a wipe or hand towel to swipe the counter and faucet.

Start one small load of laundry (30 seconds)

Even if it’s tiny socks, gym clothes, dish towels.

Midday / Whenever You Have 2 Minutes

The “Pass-By Pick-Up” (1–2 minutes)

Every time you walk through a room, grab one thing that’s out of place and put it away.

Wipe one surface

Kitchen counter, coffee table, nightstand just one. Tomorrow you’ll hit another.

The 10-Item Reset

Pick up or toss 10 small things: wrappers, receipts, mail, toys, pens, etc.

Evening (Total: 6–8 minutes)

Dish reset (2 minutes)

Put dishes into the dishwasher or wash 5 items by hand.
(Doing just 5 prevents pile-up.)

Kitchen wipe + crumb sweep (2 minutes)

Swipe the counter → quick sweep under the table.

Laundry flip (1 minute)

Move morning load to dryer or hang it.

2-minute living room reset

Fold blanket, fluff couch, stack remotes, gather trash.

Weekly Micro-Tasks (Do one per day — takes 3–5 minutes)

Pick whichever day fits you:

  • Monday: Clean bathroom mirror + sink
  • Tuesday: Declutter one drawer or shelf
  • Wednesday: Wipe kitchen appliances
  • Thursday: Vacuum high-traffic areas
  • Friday: Change sheets
  • Saturday: Empty/organize entryway
  • Sunday: Quick fridge clean-out (old food out)

Tiny Rules That Make It All Work

  • Never clean for more time than you want to. Short is the point.
  • Always clean “by passing.” When you walk past something, fix one thing.
  • Do less than you think you should. Consistency beats intensity.
  • If it takes under 60 seconds, do it now.
