What You Need
- Baking soda
- White vinegar (spray bottle is best)
- Dish soap
- Gloves
- Scraper or sponge
- Microfiber cloth
- Optional: oven-cleaning spray for heavy grease
Step-by-Step Deep Cleaning Guide
1. Empty the Oven
Take out:
- Racks
- Thermometer
- Pans or foil
This gives you room to scrub.
2. Clean the Racks Separately
Put racks in your bathtub or a large sink.
- Fill with hot water + ¼ cup dish soap (or ½ cup baking soda).
- Soak 2–4 hours.
- Scrub with a sponge or brush.
- Rinse + dry.
Pro tip: For heavy grease, sprinkle baking soda on racks, spray vinegar, let foam, then scrub.
3. Make a Baking Soda Paste
Mix:
- ½ cup baking soda
- 3–4 tbsp water
You want a spreadable paste — not too runny.
4. Coat the Entire Inside of the Oven
Put on gloves.
- Spread the paste on:
- Bottom
- Sides
- Back
- Door interior
- Around the burners (but avoid heating elements directly)
- Let it sit for 8–12 hours (overnight is perfect).
If you’re in a hurry: Let sit at least 45 minutes.
5. Wipe Out the Baking Soda
After it dries:
- Use a damp cloth to remove the paste.
- For stubborn spots, use a scraper or old credit card.
- Repeat where needed.
6. Spray With Vinegar
Spray vinegar everywhere you applied baking soda.
It will foam — this lifts the remaining grease.
Then:
- Let it bubble 2–3 minutes.
- Wipe clean with a cloth.
. Clean the Oven Door Glass (Shiny Method)
Sprinkle baking soda on the glass.
- Add a few drops of water → create a paste.
- Let sit 15 minutes.
- Scrub gently with a sponge.
- Wipe dry until streak-free.
8. Clean the Exterior
- Wipe knobs and handle with dish soap + warm water.
- Clean the front glass with vinegar or glass cleaner.
- Dry with a microfiber cloth.
9. Put Racks Back In + You’re Done
Slide in your now-clean racks and enjoy a fresh oven.
