Banana Donut Holes Recipe

These Mini Air Fryer Banana Donuts are such a gentle little treat soft, lightly sweet, and wonderfully fragrant with ripe banana. They come together quickly, and the air fryer gives them that tender, just-baked finish without any fuss.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: 2–3 tbsp mini chocolate chips
  • Swap: Melted coconut oil works in place of butter

Steps

  1. Mash the banana in a bowl until mostly smooth a few tiny lumps are perfectly fine.
  2. Whisk in the sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla until everything looks creamy and blended.
  3. Fold in the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt). The batter will be thick and spoonable just right for mini donuts.
  4. Lightly grease your mini donut molds and spoon the batter in, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  5. Air fry at 330°F for 7–8 minutes, or until the tops feel springy. Don’t worry if they look pale — air-fried donuts don’t brown as much as baked ones.
  6. Cool for a few minutes before gently removing from the molds.

Chef’s Tips

  • Overfilling the molds can cause the holes to close up, so keep them around 2/3 full.
  • If the batter feels too thick, add 1–2 teaspoons of milk to loosen it.
  • Toss warm donuts in cinnamon sugar for a lovely finish that makes them feel “bakery special.”

Variations

  • Banana Chocolate Chip: Fold in mini chips for extra sweetness.
  • Maple Glaze: Mix 1/4 cup powdered sugar with 1 tbsp maple syrup and drizzle over cooled donuts.
  • Healthier Twist: Swap half the flour for oat flour for a heartier, tender texture.
