Apple Fritter Bites

These Apple Fritter Bites are little nuggets of cozy joy crisp on the outside, soft and apple-filled on the inside. They give you all the comfort of classic apple fritters without the stress or long prep. Perfect for quick snacks, weekend treats, or when that apple-cinnamon craving hits.

Ingredient

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 cup finely diced apple (Honeycrisp or Gala are lovely)
  • Oil, for frying

Optional glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Steps

  1. Mix the dry ingredients. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the wet ingredients. Stir in egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter until just combined. Don’t worry if the batter looks thick that’s exactly right.
  3. Fold in apples. Gently stir in the diced apples so they’re evenly spread throughout.
  4. Heat the oil. Warm oil in a skillet or pot over medium heat (about 350°F).
  5. Fry the bites. Drop tablespoon-sized scoops into the oil and fry 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Drain briefly. Transfer to paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Glaze or dust. Drizzle with glaze or dust with powdered sugar while warm.

Chef’s Tips

  • Dice apples small: Smaller pieces cook through quickly and keep the bites tender.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan: Fry in batches so they stay crisp, not greasy.
  • Test one first: It helps you adjust the heat before frying the whole batch.

Variations

  • Cinnamon sugar coating: Toss warm bites in cinnamon sugar instead of glazing.
  • Baked version: Bake at 375°F for 12–15 minutes, flipping once.
  • Caramel apple bites: Drizzle with warm caramel sauce instead of glaze.
