Rosemary Sea Salt Crackers

These Rosemary Sea Salt Crackers are delicate, crisp, and beautifully fragrant the kind of simple homemade cracker that instantly elevates a cheese board or a cozy bowl of soup. They’re surprisingly easy to make, and the fresh rosemary makes your whole kitchen smell wonderful.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/3 cup warm water
  • Flaky sea salt, for topping
  • Optional: a pinch of garlic powder for a savory twist

Steps

  1. Mix the dry ingredients. In a bowl, combine the flour, sea salt, and chopped rosemary.
  2. Add the wet ingredients. Stir in the olive oil and warm water until the dough comes together. Don’t worry if it feels slightly firm that’s perfect for rolling.
  3. Roll it thin. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough as thin as possible. The thinner you go, the crispier the crackers.
  4. Cut into shapes. Use a pizza cutter or knife to create squares, rectangles, or any shape you like.
  5. Brush and season. Lightly brush with olive oil and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  6. Bake at 400°F for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges turn golden.
  7. Cool completely. They crisp up even more as they cool.

Chef’s Tips

  • Roll evenly: Uneven dough leads to some crackers burning while others stay soft. Thin and consistent is the goal.
  • Add flavor: A tiny pinch of garlic powder or lemon zest pairs beautifully with rosemary.
  • Store well: Keep in an airtight container for up to a week they stay wonderfully crisp.

Variations

  • Parmesan rosemary crackers: Add 2 tbsp finely grated Parmesan to the dough.
  • Rosemary-black pepper: Add freshly cracked black pepper for a savory bite.
  • Whole wheat: Substitute half the flour with whole wheat for a nutty flavor.
