Healthy Air Fryer Churro Bites

These Healthy Air Fryer Churro Bites bring all the cozy cinnamon-sugar magic of classic churros but in the sweetest little mini form and without the deep frying. They’re crisp on the outside, soft inside, and so easy you can make them anytime a craving hits.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • For coating:
    • 2 tbsp sugar
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Optional swap: Use whole-wheat flour for half the flour for a heartier texture (add a tiny splash of yogurt if dough feels dry)

Steps

  1. Mix the dough by stirring together the yogurt, flour, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. It should come together into a soft, slightly sticky dough that’s perfect.
  2. Lightly flour your hands and roll small teaspoon-sized pieces into little balls or nuggets. Keep them mini so they cook evenly.
  3. Spray the air fryer basket lightly with oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Air fry at 350°F for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway. They should puff up and turn lightly golden.
  5. Toss warm bites immediately in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. They coat beautifully when still warm.
  6. Serve right away while they’re soft and warm inside.

Chef’s Tips

  • If the dough feels too sticky, add 1 extra tablespoon of flour; if too dry, add 1 teaspoon of yogurt.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer small batches help them crisp evenly.
  • For an extra “churro” feel, give the bites a very light spray of oil before air frying.

  • Chocolate Drizzle: Melt a little chocolate and drizzle over the warm bites.
  • Filled Bites: Tuck a tiny chocolate chip inside each dough ball for a surprise center.
  • Protein Churro Bites: Add 1 tablespoon vanilla protein powder and reduce flour by 1 tablespoon.
