What You Need
- Baking soda
- Water
- Spray bottle (optional)
- Vinegar (optional, for extra cleaning power)
- A rag or sponge
- A small bowl
- Rubber gloves (recommended)
Step by Step

Step 1 : Empty the Oven
Remove racks, trays, and anything inside.
Step 2 : Make a Baking Soda Paste
In a bowl, mix:
- ½ cup baking soda
- A few tablespoons of water
You want a spreadable paste not too runny, not too thick.
Step 3: Spread the Paste Inside the Oven
Using your hands or a sponge, spread the paste on:
- The bottom of the oven
- The sides
- The back wall
- The inside of the door
⚠️ Avoid the heating elements (just clean around them).
The paste will turn brown as it absorbs grease that means it’s working!
Step 4 : Let It Sit
Let the paste sit for at least 12 hours (overnight is best).
This gives the baking soda time to dissolve burnt-on grime.
Step 5 : Wipe It Off
Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe off the baking soda paste.
It should come off easily, bringing the dirt with it.
If some residue remains:
- Spray with water
- Wipe again
Step 6 : Optional Vinegar Rinse
For a sparkling finish:
- Put white vinegar in a spray bottle.
- Spray wherever you still see baking soda.
- It will foam this helps lift leftover residue.
- Wipe clean.
Step 7 — Clean Oven Racks (Optional)
You can clean your racks too:
- Place them in a bathtub or large basin.
- Sprinkle baking soda generously.
- Pour vinegar — it will fizz.
- Fill with hot water.
- Let soak 1–2 hours.
- Scrub and rinse.
Step 8 : Final Wipe
Wipe everything dry and put racks back in place.
Your oven should look and smell clean!
